This website uses cookies to monitor browsing preferences for statistical use only, via Google Analytics. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our Web site by identifying which parts of our site are most heavily used. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means that user sessions will be tracked, but the users will remain anonymous.

Use of Information

 

The Wellan Institute Communication Department uses the information gathered above to tailor site content to user needs and to generate aggregate statistical reports.

Children / Direct Notice to Parents

 

The Wellan Institute Web site has no intention of collecting any personal data from individuals under 13 years of age without parental consent. Where appropriate, we will specifically instruct those under age 13 not to submit such information on our site and/or will take reasonable steps to ensure parental consent to such submissions.

Online Privacy at Wellan

 

Wellan uses Google Suite (www.google.com) and Eventfinity (wellan.eventfinity.co) as its online and remote learning platforms.  Google Suite was selected, among other reasons, due its widespread use and easy of accessibility.  Google also engages in limited collection of student data, the details of which can be found at www.google.com.  Eventfinity was selected, among other reasons, due to its secure login, password-protected online digital learning capabilities.  By necessity, Eventfinity engages in the limited collection of online student data, including the names of students, grade-levels, class assignments, contact information, and IP addresses.  This data is maintained on a secure Eventfinity server accessible only by Wellan administrators and Eventfinity’s technical team.

 

In addition, Wellan may at times choose to record virtual classes for a variety of educational and diagnostic purposes, including but not limited to allowing students to access lesson material at convenient times, allowing students with connectivity or other technical difficulties to access missed content, allowing faculty to review classroom discussions, and allowing Wellan to analyze platform performance.  In the event recordings are created, these recordings will be stored securely on Wellan’s Google Suite document server and/or its Eventfinity platform.  Occasionally certain recordings will be shared with the Wellan community via the Google Suite sharing setting “viewable by anyone with a link.”  Wellan uses this sharing setting pursuant to its student photographic policy found in student enrollment contracts.  So as to protect student privacy, no member of the School community, including a student, is permitted to record or otherwise document any class, meeting or session without prior consent by Wellan’s administration.

Online and Remote Learning Consent

 

A student’s use of Wellan Wired, Eventfinity, and Google Suite constitutes your consent to such use in connection and consistent with the School’s curriculum and student activities. Your use of such programming also constitutes your consent to the recording of the online or remote learning interactions between the School, any of its employees, and the Student. In addition to this general notice, by logging on to Wellan Wired, students consent to such use and to being recorded.  Consistent with applicable law and COPPA, Wellan communicates this consent to its service providers and contractually consents to Eventfinity’s and Google Suite’s information collection and privacy practices on behalf of its students.

Wellan Online Community Standards

 

By using Wellan Institute’s online and remote learning platforms, students are agreeing to follow Wellan’s basic rules of computer and internet etiquette:

 

• Be polite.  Students should never engage in hurtful, harassing, threatening, or abusive behaviors toward one another online.

• Use appropriate language.  Do not swear, use vulgarities or any other inappropriate language.

• Any passwords and/or accounts assigned solely to Students shall remain private.  Students will not reveal their password to others and will not let anyone else use their assigned accounts.

• Students will not tamper with Eventfinity or Google Suite account of other users.  Students understand that Students are not to use anyone else’s account even if Students have appropriately been granted access. 

• Students should use the Eventfinity or Google Suite platforms for educational purposes only.

• Students should not attempt to log on to video meetings except when a class is scheduled or if granted permission by a Wellan teacher or administrator.

• Students have a responsibility to report to a Wellan teacher or administrator any safety concerns or incidents encountered while on the Eventfinity or Google Suite platforms or in the course of engaging in distance learning. 

 

These rules of computer and internet etiquette, as well as the Wellan Wired privacy policies, are designed to create a positive Wellan Wired environment, maintain a strong Wellan community, and keep our students safe.

Information Collected via Gifts / Online Registrations

 

Whenever you make a gift or register for an event using this site, information will be requested on a form. The information requested includes name, address, and financial information, such as a credit card number and expiration date. This information is used to obtain payment from the appropriate clearinghouse and to fulfill the visitor's request.
