Assistant Teacher Training

About the Course

The Assistant in a Montessori classroom plays a very important role in ensuring that young students receive the very best educational experience. Both new and experienced Montessori Assistants will benefit from this course, gaining knowledge and skills that will strengthen job performance and enhance job satisfaction. The role of the Assistant in both Toddler and Early Childhood classrooms will be addressed. Participants who complete the course will earn a Montessori Assistant Certificate from the Wellan Institute, an adult education center affiliated with Wellan Montessori School.

AMS Continuing Professional Development Record of Attendance - 15 hours.

 

Course Content includes

  • Fundamentals of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy

  • Major physical and cognitive milestones in Early Childhood development

  • How and why to "prepare the environment" for student learning

  • How "scientific observation" can help you better meet individual student's needs

  • Positive techniques for managing transitions and challenging behavior

  • Suggestions for making the most of "Circle Time" with songs and stories

  • Ways to foster a strong working relationship with the lead teacher
    The Assistant's role in creating a peaceful, productive, "normalized" classroom


​This 3-day course is held in person at Wellan Montessori School in Newton Centre, MA, which is accessible by car and MBTA. Attendance is required all three days.
